DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendars for the 13th annual Norma E. Boyd 5K Race for Education on Sunday\, September 20\, 2026. This event\, hosted by the Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.® in collaboration with the Pearl and Ivy Educational Foundation\, Inc. (PIEF)\, honors the 40th anniversary of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.® founder Norma E. Boyd’s passing. \nNorma E. Boyd\, born on August 9\, 1888\, was a native Washingtonian dedicated to educational and humanitarian pursuits for children throughout her 97 years of life. She was an incorporator and founding member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.® and a charter member of the Xi Omega Chapter. \nSince 2013\, the Norma E. Boyd 5K Race for Education has raised over $118\,000\, directly supporting PIEF’s mission to provide college scholarships for District of Columbia high school students. \nAbout the Organizers: \nPIEF: Established in 1988\, PIEF is a 501(c)(3) organization providing scholarships to deserving college-bound high school seniors and continuing college students in the District of Columbia. Comprised of college-educated\, professional women and community volunteers\, PIEF serves as the fundraising arm and primary funder for the Xi Omega Chapter’s service programs. \nXi Omega Chapter\, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.®: As the oldest and largest graduate chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority\, Inc.® in Washington\, D.C.\, Xi Omega boasts a rich history of community service and commitment to education over the past 100 years. In addition to annually awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships with PIEF\, the chapter provides a range of service programs focusing on educational enrichment\, health and wellness\, family strengthening\, environmental ownership\, and global impact. \nRace Packet Pick-up: \nSunday\, September 20\, 2026 (Race Day): Between 7:15 a.m. and 7:55 a.m.\, prior to the race start. \nLate arrivals will not be permitted on the course. \n\nEvent details and schedule\n  \nRace Date and Time \nSeptember 20\, 2026 – 8:00am \nRace Location \nRock Creek Park (Picnic Groe #24)\n4850 Colorado Ave NW\nWashington\, DC US 20011 \n\nRace Day Parking \n\n\nPlease use Colorado Ave (from 16th St) to park at Grove 24/ Tennis Center. There will be several street closings: Beach Drive is closed to traffic on weekends south of Joyce Rd & Ross Dr.  Stage Rd is closed to traffic on race morning.  Morrow Rd will close to traffic at 7:30 on race morning. \n\n\nRace Day Check-In  \n\n\nParticipant check-in runs from 7:15 am to 8:00 am.  The Norma E.
