SUMMARY:Friends Collective 5K Walk/Run
DESCRIPTION:The Friends Collective will host its annual 5K on May 5\, 8:00am in scenic Rock Creek Park. The 5K begins with a steep\, challenging hill down Kennedy Street NW and then follows Beach Drive through Rock Creek Park. All runners (virtual and in person) will receive a medal. To enhance your race experience and show additional support\, runners can also purchase an official Friends Collective 5K t-shirt. \nLocation \nThe start and finish line are behind the Fitzgerald Tennis Center at 16th and Kennedy Street NW.  The address is 1600 Kennedy Street NW\, Washington\, DC 20011. \nRace Day Parking \nPlease use Colorado Ave (from 16th St) to park at Grove 24/ Tennis Center. There will be several street closings: Beach Drive is closed to traffic on weekends south of Joyce Rd & Ross Dr.  Stage Rd is closed to traffic on race morning.  Morrow Rd will close to traffic at 7:45 on race morning. \nRace Day Check-In  \nParticipant check-in runs from 7:15 am to 8:00 am.  The Friends Collective 5K is expected to run until approximately 10:00 am. \nFriends Collective is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that uses its network of resources to reallocate food that would have gone to waste towards families and communities in need. \nMission Statement \nTo enhance the quality of life for our local community — Volunteer work is not just an item on a resume or college application – it’s an essential part of a functioning society. The benefits of volunteer work reach far and wide with a ripple effect that begins with the individual and nonprofit organization and extends beyond the larger community\, benefiting everyone in its wake.
